Giannis to young players: “Seek knowledge, not photos. I still keep my notebook with 50 questions for Kobe Bryant”
Giannis Antetokounmpo gave young basketball players a life lesson at the Nike Freak 8 event, after they asked him for a photo instead of questions. The Miami Heat star revealed that when he met Kobe Bryant, he brought a notebook full of questions.
The forward invited those in attendance to ask him questions, but instead received a request for a group photo. “A photo? We already took a photo, man. What do they call you guys? Zoomers? You have to want to gain knowledge, that’s the most important thing,” he responded.
He then listed the questions that really matter: what it takes to reach the NBA, what to do once you get there, how to handle teammates and coaches, how to cope with 20,000 fans in the stands, and how to deal with pressure, fame and distractions.
“You think I have a photo with... Actually, I do. My only photo is with Kobe Bryant. But when I went to him, I had a notebook and asked him 50 questions. That notebook is still at home. Every time I’m struggling or don’t know the answer, I look at it,” Giannis said.
Antetokounmpo has had a remarkable career journey, from the 15th pick in the 2013 draft to a two-time MVP and NBA champion.
