Manchester United suffer their worst start to a season in 40 years
Manchester United have just six points after six Premier League rounds, their worst start at this stage since the 1986/87 season. The latest setback was a 1-1 home draw with Tottenham, after which the team was booed off by the Old Trafford crowd.
Manchester United are going through one of the most delicate moments in their recent history. After six rounds of the Premier League, the team have just six points, their weakest start at this stage of the season since 1986/87, when they collected four points from six games.
The latest stumble came at Old Trafford in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham. The hosts took the lead in the 73rd minute through a goal from Cameroonian Bryan Mbeumo.
Despite having a numerical advantage after Rodrigo Bentancur’s dismissal, as he received a straight red card in the 78th minute shortly after coming on, the Red Devils failed to hold on to their lead. In the second minute of stoppage time, Dominic Solanke equalised, scoring only the Londoners’ third goal of the season and their first away from home.
United’s poor performance did not go down well with the Old Trafford fans either, who booed the team off after the final whistle.
